Page Turns for Accompanists and Collaborative Pianists
Turning pages mid-phrase is the accompanist's oldest problem. With Page Turner, a Bluetooth pedal turns your music without lifting a hand, half-page turns show the next line before you reach it, and the singer or soloist you're playing with can follow the same score on their own tablet.
How It Works for Accompanists
- Upload the piano-vocal or piano score as a PDF from your tablet. You become the leader.
- Turn pages with a Bluetooth pedal, a tap, or a swipe. Your hands stay on the keys.
- If the soloist or singer reads from a tablet too, they scan the QR code or type the room code, and their screen turns with yours.
- For a recital, audition, or competition day with several pieces, add each one to the room's set list and tap Next Piece ▶ between them.
Setup Tips for Accompanists
- Turn on half-page turns. Open ☰ and tap Half-Page Turns: the first press shows the top of the next page while you finish the bottom of this one, and the second press completes the turn. No more rushed turns at the bottom of a page.
- Use a 13-inch tablet for piano scores. Two-stave piano parts with a vocal line are dense; a large screen shows them close to printed size. See the best tablets for sheet music.
- Trim the margins. Trim Margins cuts the white border around each page so the notes are bigger, especially on older scanned editions.
- Mark the music in the room. Open ☰ → Annotate to add cuts, breath marks, and dynamics, and the soloist sees them as you draw. Save the marked PDF to keep a copy. How to mark up sheet music.
- Save the music before you leave. Open the room on good Wi-Fi and check the set list says every piece is saved, so a weak signal in the hall doesn't matter.
- Keep the screen bright and awake. Page Turner asks the screen to stay awake while the room is open, and Dark Stage helps in a dim hall.
Questions From Accompanists
Can the page turns follow repeats and a D.C. al fine?
Yes. Open ☰ → Repeats & Jumps and type the pages in the order you play them, such as 1-3, 2-3, 4-6, and every press of the pedal follows that order, on your screen and the soloist's. See repeats and codas in digital sheet music.
Can the soloist look ahead without turning my page?
Yes. Only the leader turns pages for everyone. A soloist following on their own tablet can swipe to peek ahead or back on their screen, and it returns to your page after 30 seconds or when they tap Back to the Leader.
What about a dim recital hall or an outdoor recital?
Dark Stage in ☰ shows light notes on black for a dim stage, and full brightness helps in the sun. See tablet sheet music on stage and outdoors.
I keep my library in forScore. Is this a replacement?
No. Keep your library where it is, export the pieces for today as PDFs, and use a Page Turner room when the soloist reads from their own device, whatever it is. See how Page Turner compares with forScore and MobileSheets.
Before You Share Music
Only share music you have the rights to use, such as public-domain works or scores you own where the publisher allows digital copies. Many recital standards are public domain; see where to find free sheet music.
