Sheet Music in Sync for Bands and Jam Sessions
Page Turner was built for a group of friends who get together to play music. One player leads, and everyone's tablet shows the same page of the same tune, so nobody gets lost between songs.
How It Works for Bands
- Whoever calls the tunes uploads a PDF and becomes the leader.
- Everyone else joins with the QR code, the link, or the six-character room code. There's no account to create or app to install.
- The leader turns pages with a tap, a swipe, or a Bluetooth pedal, and every tablet follows. Players who show up late start on the current page.
- Add the night's tunes to the room's set list. When the leader calls the next one, everyone switches to it.
Setup Tips for Bands
- Upload the tunes you'll actually play. If you read from a big fake book, split the tunes you need into their own PDFs. Smaller files open faster, and a set list holds up to 50 of them.
- Let the tune caller lead. The person counting off the tunes knows when to move on. A Bluetooth pedal lets them turn pages without taking their hands off their instrument.
- Name the room after the session, such as "Thursday Jam", so everyone knows they've joined the right one.
- Set the road map once. In ☰ → Repeats & Jumps, the leader types the pages in the order they're played, and every turn follows the repeats and the jump to the coda. See repeats and codas in digital sheet music. To go anywhere else, the leader types a page number and everyone's screen jumps too.
- Use the biggest screen you have. Phones work, but each page is scaled to fit the screen, so tablets are much easier to read from a music stand. See how to hold a tablet on a music stand.
- Start a new room each session. A room closes 24 hours after a tune was last added or shown.
Questions From Bands
Can players look ahead to the bridge?
Yes. Anyone following can swipe to peek ahead or back on their own screen without moving anyone else's. Tapping Back to the Leader returns them to the band's page, and after 30 seconds it happens on its own.
We play the same set at every gig. Do we rebuild it each time?
No. In ☰ → Set List, tap Save This Set List, and start the next gig's room from it on the home page with the tunes in the same order. The set list guide covers naming and folders.
What if the venue's Wi-Fi is bad?
Every device saves the tunes as soon as it joins, so open the room before you load in. Saved music keeps working without a signal, and everyone catches up when it returns. See tablet sheet music on stage and outdoors for glare, heat, and long gigs.
Someone sent the chart as a photo. Can we use it?
Yes, once it's a PDF. Convert the images to a PDF with the tools already on your phone or computer, then add it to the set list.
