Share Sheet Music in Music Lessons
Page Turner puts a teacher and student on the same page of music, whether they're in the same room or on a video call in different cities. The teacher turns the page, and the student's screen follows.
How It Works for Lessons
- The teacher uploads the piece as a PDF and becomes the leader.
- The student opens the link, for example from the video call's chat, or types the six-character room code on the home page. There's no account to create or app to install.
- The teacher turns pages, and the student's screen turns too. Say a page and measure, and the student is already looking at it.
- Load the whole lesson into the room's set list, such as warm-ups, studies, and repertoire, and switch between them as you go.
Setup Tips for Lessons
- Use two devices for online lessons. Run the video call on one, such as a laptop or phone, and keep the music on a tablet, so neither one covers the other.
- Let the student turn pages too. In the Share panel, Lead From Another Device gives you a link that lets someone else turn pages. Send it to your student, and either of you can turn the page. Anyone with that link can turn pages for everyone, so only share it with your student.
- Teach a group class from one room. Any number of students can join the same room and follow along.
- Start a new room for each lesson. A room closes 24 hours after a piece was last added or shown, so keep each student's PDFs organized on your own device.
- Check both connections. Teacher and student both need internet access. A green dot next to the page number means a device is connected, and it catches up automatically after a dropout.
Questions From Teachers
Does my student need forScore or another app?
No. Page Turner runs in the browser, so a student on an iPad, an Android tablet, a Chromebook, or a laptop just opens the link. If you keep your own library in a sheet music app, export the piece as a PDF and upload it. See how Page Turner compares with forScore and MobileSheets.
Can I mark the music while I teach?
Yes. Open ☰ → Annotate and circle a measure or add a fingering, and the student sees it as you draw. Save the marked PDF and send it to them as a reminder for practice. See how to mark up sheet music on a tablet.
Can I keep each student's pieces between lessons?
Yes. In ☰ → Set List, tap Save This Set List and name it after the student. Next week, start the lesson's room from it on the home page, with any marks still there.
What if my student only has photos of their music?
Have them convert the photos to one PDF with the free tools on their phone or computer, or upload it for them yourself.
Before You Share Music
Only share music you have the rights to share, and check the publisher's terms before sharing pages from a method book. To turn printed music into a PDF, see how to scan sheet music into a PDF.
