Privacy Policy

Effective October 3, 2026

Page Turner (thepageturner.app) lets a leader share PDF sheet music with other devices and turn pages for everyone in real time. This policy explains what information the app handles, how cookies and similar technologies are used, and how third-party advertising works on the site.

The short version

Information we handle

PDFs and rooms

When you create a room or add music to one, we store on our server the PDF, its file name, and the room's state: its name if the leader gives it one, the set list order, the page each piece is on, and when the room expires. Anyone with a room's link can view the music in it, so only share links with people you want to see it.

A room and all of its PDFs are deleted automatically 24 hours after a piece was last added or switched to. Leaders can also remove individual PDFs from a set list, or delete the whole room and all of its PDFs, at any time. Please only upload music you have the right to share.

Server and connection logs

Like most websites, our server and our hosting provider record technical information when your device connects. This includes your IP address, browser type, the pages and files requested, and the time of the request. Our application logs also record the file name and size of uploaded PDFs. We use this information only to run, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

Real-time connection

To keep pages in sync, your browser keeps an open connection to our server while a room is open. The server uses it only to send and receive page turns and set-list changes and to count connected viewers. The connection does not use cookies.

Cookies and local storage

Page Turner's own code does not set any cookies. Cookies on this site come only from Google Analytics and Google AdSense, described below. The app uses your browser's local storage, which never leaves your device unless the app sends it, for these purposes only:

You can clear these at any time by clearing your browser's website data for thepageturner.app. If you do, you'll lose leader control of your open rooms on that device.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: for example, how many people visit, which pages they open, roughly where they are (country or city), what kind of device and browser they use, and how they arrived. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies on thepageturner.app (named _ga and _ga_…) to recognize returning visitors, and Google receives your IP address when your browser connects to it.

To protect your music, every room is reported to Google Analytics only as a generic "Room" page. Room links, room IDs, room names, leader keys, and PDF file names are not sent.

You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, by blocking cookies in your browser, or with a content blocker. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services for more.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads on the home page. Ads are not shown inside rooms while music is displayed. When an ad is shown:

Who else processes information

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the security of the service. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

Children

Page Turner is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to object to how it is used. Because there are no accounts, most information disappears on its own when a room expires. For anything else, contact us using the details below.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page.
