What's New
Recent improvements to Page Turner, newest first.
- A folder for each part. On a computer, choose or drop a folder with a subfolder for each part (Soprano, Alto…) on the home page, and tap Start With Parts: each subfolder becomes a part, and files with the same number become the same piece. In a room, + Add a Part takes a folder too, to add several parts at once. More.
- Save rooms with parts. Save This Set List now works in a room with parts, and keeps every part's PDFs, marks, and repeats, not just the part the director is reading. A room started from the saved set list comes back with all its parts, ready for players to choose. Part leader links are new in each room, so send them again from Share → Lead a Part. More.
- Parts. A room can now hold separate music for each section, under one room code. In ☰ → Set List, tap + Add a Part, name it (Violin II, Vocals…), and choose its PDFs, one per piece. Players choose their part when they join. Each part can have its own leader, who turns that part's pages from a link in Share → Lead a Part; a part with no leader turns its own pages. Switching pieces still moves everyone. Rooms with parts can't be saved as a set list yet. More.
- Peek ahead. Following a room, swipe (or use the arrow keys or a pedal) to look ahead or back on your own screen without changing anyone else's. Tap Back to the Leader to rejoin the leader's page, or it happens by itself after 30 seconds. More.
- Hand off leadership. Open Share → Hand Off Leadership for a one-time link or QR code that moves leading to someone else's device, even mid-rehearsal. It only takes effect once they open it, and every device that was leading switches to following the moment it's claimed.
- Lead from any signed-in device. Rooms made while signed in now belong to the account, so the home page's room list, and the ability to lead, match on every device you're signed into, not just the one that created it.
- Rename a room or set list in place. Tap "Rename This Room" or "Rename This Set List" under its name on the home page to change it without opening it.
- Keep your set lists in an account. Leaders can now sign in, with no password: we email a code and a link. Saved set lists are then kept on our server, with their music, marks, and repeats, and you can start a room with them from any device. Set lists already saved on a device can be moved in with one tap. Accounts are optional; you still don't need one to lead or join a room. How it works.
- Terms of Use. A short, plain-language Terms of Use, including how to report a copyright problem.
- Repeats and jumps. The leader can open ☰ → Repeats & Jumps and write the pages in the order they're played, like 1-3, 2-3, 4-6 for a repeat of pages 2–3. Every turn then follows it on every device, through repeats, D.S. and codas. A small ↩ beside the page number warns that the next turn goes back, and saved set lists keep each piece's play order. How to write repeats and codas.
- Draw on the music for everyone. In any room, the leader can open ☰ → Annotate to mark the music with a pen, highlighter, text, or symbols like breath marks and dynamics. Every device sees the marks, and anyone can save the piece as a PDF with them drawn in.
- Saved set lists keep your marks. Save a room's set list after marking up the music, and the next room you start from it opens with the same marks. How to mark up sheet music.
- Pick up where you left off. The home page now shows your open rooms and saved set lists together, above the upload box.
- Save a set list for next time. In a room, open ☰ → Set List and tap Save This Set List. Next week, start a new room with the same pieces, in the same order, in one tap from the home page. How it works.
- One press, one page. Holding a pedal or arrow key down now turns just one page.
- Switch away from a slow piece. The ☰ menu now stays available while a piece is loading.
- Two new guides. Reading sheet music on stage and outdoors, for glare, dark pits, heat, wind, and long gigs, and how Page Turner compares with forScore and MobileSheets.
- Two new guides. Choosing a tablet for sheet music, with how big a 9 × 12 page looks on each screen size, and where to find free sheet music, from IMSLP to public-domain hymns.
- Pages for more groups. How Page Turner works for accompanists, pit orchestras and musicals, school ensembles, wedding and event musicians, community orchestras, and a cappella and barbershop groups.
- A tidier menu on phones. Guides and Who It's For now open and close in the ☰ menu, starting with the section you're in.
- Faster pages. The animated pictures at the top of each page now load a fraction of the code they used to.
- Know when you're on the last page. A yellow LAST tag appears beside the page count in the room once a piece's final page is showing.
- Half-page turns only go forward. Turning back now always goes to a whole page, so going back a page is one tap.
- A clearer half-page divider. With half-page turns on, the line between the two pages is now bolder, and each page shades slightly toward it, so it's easy to see where one page ends.
- Play straight through the set list. Turning the page on a piece's last page now moves everyone to the next piece in the set list, starting from its first page.
- Half-page turns. The leader can turn on half-page turns from ☰ in the room: each turn first shows the top of the next page while the bottom of the current one stays in view, so everyone sees the next line before they reach it.
- Guides to set lists and images. How to organize a set list for a gig, and how to turn photos and screenshots of music into a PDF for free.
- Dark Stage and Trim Margins. Two new buttons in the room toolbar (☰): Dark Stage shows light notes on black for dim stages, and Trim Margins cuts the white margins so the notes are bigger on phones. They only change your own screen.
- Keeps playing if the Wi-Fi drops. Each device now saves the room's pieces in the background. If the connection drops, saved pieces still open, viewers can turn pages themselves, and everyone jumps back to the leader's page when it returns. A room can even be reloaded without a connection.
- Rejoin rooms you've followed. "Your rooms" on the home page now lists rooms you've recently followed as well as the ones you lead, so getting back in is one tap.
- Smoother uploads from Google Drive and iCloud. PDFs picked from cloud storage are read before uploading, so they no longer fail partway through, and a file that can't be read says why.
- An FAQ and this page. The FAQ collects quick answers in one place.
- Upload a whole set list at once. Choose several PDFs, or a whole folder on a computer, and they're added in file-name order.
- Next piece button. The leader can move everyone to the next piece in the set list straight from the toolbar.
- Pages for choirs, worship teams, bands, and music lessons. How Page Turner works for choirs, worship teams, bands, and music lessons, with setup tips for each.
- Three new guides. Setting up a Bluetooth page-turner pedal, holding a tablet on a music stand, and scanning sheet music into a PDF.
- Light and dark modes for the site. Switch with the button at the bottom of any page.
